Pastor Larry Carlson

Larry Carlson is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and has been preaching on Anderson Island for about two years.  He was born in Tacoma, raised in nearby Parkland, worked through college on the Northern Pacific Railroad and has spent most of his adult life in the Gig Harbor area. 

Pastor Larry has a B.A. in Education and a Master’s Degree in Political Science.  He taught junior high social studies in the Franklin Pierce School District and high school history at Peninsula High School. 

On finishing his teaching career, he earned a Master of Divinity degree at Western Reformed Seminary in Tacoma.  He has pastored  Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Gig Harbor for nine years and been interim pastor at Bickleton Community Church (Eastern Washington) for a year.

He is married to Maudie Carlson and they have six children and a flock of grandchildren.  They backpack together on the Pacific Crest Trail which runs from  Mexico to Canada and have managed to complete well over one thousand miles

Larry has authored two books.   Presbies on the Hill  is a history of Presbyterians in Gig Harbor, 1888-1994).  There is a River/God’s Magnificent Molecule follows the subject of water throughout the Bible in 271 very  short commentaries centering on the Good News of Jesus Christ.
